Is Working 9-to-5 Slowing Women’s Progress?
I wanted to pass on an interesting article I read this morning regarding how the 9-to-5 workday is slowing the progress of women:
The 9-to-5 workday is choking women’s progress
The article states that in today’s environment most people are working more than ever at work. Since women usually have the responsibility of more caregiving, they’re trying to juggle even more responsibilities at home and at work.
The article highlighted some statistics:
- Of the Fortune 500 companies, only 23 have female CEOs
- This is a big decline from 2017, when there were 32 female CEOs
This was surprising to me, as I thought women were making more progress! The answer to women’s advancement seems to be in less rigid schedules, adaptable desk arrangements and remote work set-ups. A more flexible work environment isn’t just a women’s issue, it should be offered to everyone.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!
